The Black land and the Red Land are two types of land that the Egyptians divided into. The 'Black' land is the fertile land of Egypt. It's called this because of the dark soil that was left on the land caused by the flooding of the Nile River. The 'Red' land is the vast or barren desert of Egypt located near the Sahara desert. The land was named this because of how of how hot the ground was.The temperature from the sun made the ground heat up.

Black Land and Red Land

Black Land is what ancient Egyptians called thier land Kemet. They called the land this because the land was left with dark soil after floods from the Nile River.

Red Land is in between two rivers. This place was called the red land because it was a dessert

Black Land
Dark soil from the Nile's floods. Very fertile.
Red Land

Black Land-The Egyptians called their land Kemet ( the black land )
because when ever the Nile River flooded the soil turned dark. The floods didn't really bother the Egyptians because if the land was very dry it would cause famine.

Red Land-Beyond the river banks is the desert ( the red land ). The desert wasn't very good for farming. Only the Egyptians who knew the deserts very well roamed and traveled the scorching land.
